Blog (Launch of The Bloomsbury Club Bar)
This month The Bloomsbury is delighted to celebrate the reopening of The Bloomsbury Club Bar, the hotel’s iconic ground floor bar. The official reopening takes place on 9th June, when guests and locals alike can come and enjoy the redesigned interiors, new bar space and revamped menus.
The new Bloomsbury Club Bar takes influence from the 1920’s and 30’s, which also transcends into its menu. The golden age of cocktails is highly celebrated with a strong, seductive mix of forgotten classics and innovative new creations inspired by the Bloomsbury Set’s infamous members.
Plush leather armchairs, atmospheric lighting and wall to wall bookshelves create a luxuriously decadent setting for guests to enjoy their chosen tipple as well as a fabulous menu serving up delicious and uncomplicated food. Venture through the bar and you’ll arrive in the enchanting outdoor grotto. With twinkling lights and cosy booths, it’s perfect for spending long summer evenings in.
The drinks menu at The Bloomsbury Club Bar features a selection of original cocktails named after the literary icons that once called the Borough their home. An example of this is theVirginia Woolf, a tart yet fruity cocktail featuring a blend of Gin, fresh lemon, raspberry shrub, Cochi Americano and an egg white.
The bar also has a signature cocktail, Gin and Milk. Rumoured to be the late Queen Mother’s favourite drink, the Gin and Milk is an oft-forgotten classic of Hayman’s Old Tom Gin with full cream and sugar gomme.
Alongside the cocktails is a vast selection of premium spirits, liqueurs and aperitifs, expertly chosen by Bar Manager Brian Calleja who brings over 10 years of experience in the hospitality world to The Bloomsbury Club Bar.
The Bloomsbury Club Bar holds the charm of a traditional London member’s club with a welcoming contemporary twist. The venue is also a perfect destination to spend a romantic evening with a loved one and promises to be a great edition to the London drinking scene.
The Bloomsbury Club Bar is open daily from 4pm until late. To find out more information click here.
