Tate Modern

One of London’s most iconic museums, the Tate Modern has been a frontrunner in exhibiting fresh, exciting new talent alongside the classic artists such as Picasso since it opened back in 2000. The museum introduced it’s Uniqlo Tate Lates back in 2016, and it’s been a brilliant success ever since. Head to the Southbank on the last Friday of every month for a mix of art, music, film and workshops, and with the doors open until 10pm, it’s a perfect spot to spend a civilised night in the city.

Royal Academy

For over 250 years the Royal Academy has celebrated the best of the art industry, exhibiting world famous artists and architects in the heart of London’s West End. They occasionally hold Saturday night RA Lates: grand affairs with DJs, cocktails, life drawing, and creative performances, but make sure to book, as they often sell out well in advance.

Victoria and Albert Museum

This free event at the Victoria and Albert Museum in South Kensington is a must-visit for guests staying at The Kensington if they’re in London on the last Friday of the month – it’s just a short walk to the venue. The Friday Late is a celebration of visual culture and design, showcasing leading and emerging artists and designers through a variety of platforms, and encouraging visitors to engage in debate and discussion. Drinks are available throughout the evening and visitors are encouraged to enjoy the John Madejski Garden in summer months.

Natural History Museum

Another South Kensington hotspot that’s embracing late night specials is the Natural History Museum. The museum’s Lates series explores different topics each time, with visitors taking part in interactive sessions to provoke conversations about those big questions on the last Friday of the month. The Lates talks are free entry, but other areas of the museum will be open to explore as part of paid tours, including the Sprit Collection and Wildlife Photographer of the Year.
