A foodie tour of Dublin with The Westbury
Forget any old myths about Irish cooking – for the last few years, Ireland has been producing some of the world’s best cooks, produce and restaurants, and Dublin has been at the heart of it. Most of this is down to the quality of the ingredients grown on our own doorstep. You won’t find better seafood than that found in our shores, and the meat and dairy produced here is world class thanks to our green lands (we knew there was a bonus to all the rain).
There’s no better way to get to know a city than by strolling its streets and eating its food. Fabulous Food Trails is a recent winner in the Best Urban Experience category at the 2015 Irish Tourism Industry Awards, and takes guests on a walking tour of Dublin. You’ll stop along the way, of course, and sample all of the local delicacies on offer, like oysters from Stephen’s Oyster stall at Temple Bar Food Market, which are harvested every Friday. You might also pop in to the charming Pepper Pot Café in the Powerscourt centre, where you’ll find gorgeous smoked salmon bagels, which are made daily by hand, or Cocoa Atelier, for a taste of some of the finest chocolate around. Cheese fans will be kept happy with a taster from Sheridan’s cheese.
A passion for great Irish food continues in The Westbury Hotel, whose chefs pride themselves in finding the best seasonal produce they can. The Westbury is the perfect partner for a foodie city break, and they’re offering a package that will surely whet your appetite. The Fabulous Food Trails Package at the Westbury includes one night’s accommodation in a beautifully appointed bedroom or suite, a three-course dinner in Balfes bar and brasserie, admission for two people on a Fabulous Foodie Trail and a full Irish breakfast in the following morning. The package can be booked on Friday or Saturday nights, until 26th September, and costs from €430. Click here to find out more.
