5 Reasons to Try the Tanqueray Bloomsbury Gin

This winter, The Bloomsbury has collaborated with Tanqueray to launch the limited edition Bloomsbury gin in the UK. To mark the occasion, a new gin-based cocktail menu has been designed by Tanqueray Brand Ambassador Tim Homewood and The Bloomsbury’s award-winning Head Bartender Joel Miguel. The exciting arrival of the Bloomsbury Tanqueray has got gin lovers talking across London. Here are 5 reasons to come try the Tanqueray Bloomsbury gin for yourself;

Tanqueray Bloomsbury Gin Cocktails

1. It’s Served in the Homeland of Gin

Back in the 1800’s, in the borough of Bloomsbury, Charles Tanqueray produced the first ever distillation of Tanqueray gin. So where better to celebrate the heritage of the nations favourite tipple other than in its historic London home? Taken from an original family recipe, Tanqueray Bloomsbury is the epitome of The Great British spirit.

2. The Creative Combinations

There are more classic cocktails made with gin than with any other spirit, which means only the best ones made the cut onto the new gin-based menu. Ever tried gin with rhubarb liqueur, a rosemary sprig and onion garnish? Probably not, but now you can. This is just one of the creative combinations on the gin cocktail list.

3. It’s the Perfect Winter Remedy

The Royal Navy often used gin at sea for medicinal purposes. What better way to fight a winter cold or ease post-shopping aches with an expertly blended gin cocktail?

4. The Quintessentially British Surroundings

The Bloomsbury Bar is the perfect place to unwind with a gin cocktail in hand. Swing by for a pre-theatre gin special or a hotel nightcap. With stylish leather armchairs and a soundtrack of smooth jazz, there’s no better place to sip your patriotic tipple in quintessentially British surroundings.

5. It’s Limited Edition

This means that when it’s gone, it’s gone. The bottle itself is beautifully presented, featuring a signature of Charles Waugh Tanqueray, alongside a marque bearing his initials. The gin is available to buy from specialist retailers and would be the perfect Christmas present for any gin enthusiast. Plus, at £45.50 a bottle it won’t break the bank.

Quick-Fire Questions with Tim Homewood

Why do you think the collaboration between Tanqueray and The Bloomsbury works so well?

Serving the Tanqueray Bloomsbury cocktail menu at The Bloomsbury perfectly compliments the heritage story of this very special limited edition gin. The historic neighbourhood was once home to Tanqueray, and these cocktails will delight gin lovers and cocktail fans alike.

What is your favourite cocktail on the new Bloomsbury gin-cocktail menu and why?

I really like the Celery Collins, it's a simple twist on a classic that has a delicious savory note to it whilst being light and refreshing.

What 3 ingredients should people have at home to make a good gin cocktail?

Easy. Other than gin you only need lemon, sugar and maybe soda water or something similar. Mix it up with 50mls gin, 25mls lemon and 2 teaspoons sugar and you're away topped with your mixer. You can add any berries to it too or swap out the sugar for honey.

Gin is on the rise to beat vodka as spirit of the age and we are seeing a lot more ‘gin bars’ and ‘gin tasting pop ups’ in London. Why do you think gin is becoming more favourable? Tweet us with your thoughts at @doylecollection or @HotelBloomsbury

The Bloomsbury’s Tanqueray Gin cocktail menu is available at the hotel throughout November and December 2015.
