Theatre of Food at the Electric Picnic
The Doyle Collection Kitchen
A few weeks ago, we posted about The Doyle Collection teaming up with the Electric Picnic, Ireland’s boutique music and arts festival, to sponsor Theatre of Food. Well, the festival has been and gone, and it was a roaring success!
Over 55,000 people attended the festival, and with food at the forefront of many minds,Theatre of Food proved to be an excellent hub within the grounds.

Chefs from The Doyle Collection’s flagship hotel The Westbury, cooked up a storm, preparing dishes for the masses that had been demonstrated by some of the country’s star names in the world of food.
Queues were often trailing out of the tent, as eager picnickers tried to get a good spot (and a taste of the good stuff)…

The demonstrations took in a wide array of different cookery styles, from the healthier stylings of The Happy Pear twins, to workshops in cocktails, shrubs and switchels. There was a session in Japanese street food, as well as real bread making (something that The Doyle Collection chefs are renowned for, incidentally).
Clodagh McKenna and new kid on the block Roz Purcell were also present, and there were plenty of fringe events with fascinating topics explored.

There was a musical element to proceedings, too – Ralph Rolle of Chic showed the crowd how to make a batch of his excellent new cookie range, and took to the drum kit too.
In a spot of very fortuitous planning, a workshop about the cause and international cures for hangovers was held on Saturday at noon, which was no doubt appreciated by many!
