It’s been 150 years since beloved author and illustrator, Beatrix Potter, was born in Kensington, London. She is the originator who brought the likes of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny into our lives. To coincide with this anniversary, the V&A Museum are celebrating by showcasing a number of special displays about her life and work throughout the years.

Displays will include a selection of original manuscripts, illustrations and letters including an unpublished illustration from Potter’s tale of ‘Kitty-in-Boots,’ which will be shown for the first time at the Museum.

The borough of Kensington holds a special place in its heart for Beatrix Potter. She was born here on July 28th 1866 and spent most of her life at her family home at 2 Bolton Gardens and was a frequent museum visitor. Although many of her illustrations depicted the sweeping landscapes of The Lake District and Scotland, where she spent many family holidays, Kensington was always her true home.
To help you celebrate this national treasure, The Kensington are offering a special ‘London with the Family’ package. This includes a beautifully appointed room complete with tepee, a visit to the Beatrix Potter collection at the V&A, a Peter Rabbit toy, a complimentary concierge service for children and much more.
The Kensington sits within easy reach of some of the city’s most cultural landmarks and with it being only a 10-minute walk to the V&A Museum, we couldn’t think of a better London base for your family stay.
