The ultimate experience for art lovers in Dublin
How to find the best art in the city
There are many cultural attractions in Dublin. From the world-class museums to the city’s literary heritage, Ireland’s capital is one which holds countless appealing sights.
And if you’re a fan of art, then there is plenty to capture your imagination. But you need to know where to look.
Which is why The Westbury has partnered with The Irish Arts Review, a leading Irish art publication, to create a uniqueArt Trailexperience. This walking trail allows guests to appreciate Dublin’s finest works of art.
The trail begins within The Westbury itself, which is home to one of Ireland’s leading private art collections. You can see works by Norah McGuinness, Barrie Cooke, John Lavery, Patrick Scott and Louis le Brocquy, all within the hotel.
Within Dublin, the trail allows guests to experience the very essence of Irish art and culture, including the city’s magnificent galleries but also sculptures and street art.
As guests embark on the trail, they will receive a bespoke booklet that tells a unique story about each piece.
In speaking about the launch, Vincent O’Gorman, General Manager at The Westbury, said
“The Westbury, a member of The Doyle Collection, is a proud and committed supporter of the arts and we are delighted to collaborate with The Irish Arts Review on this unique Art Trail. Dublin city centre has more than 250 items of public art including statues, sculptures and murals of various types. Through these works, our guests can now discover our history, our writers and our artists, which make Ireland what it is today. In addition to the booklet, the hotel is offering guests the opportunity to book a guided walking tour of the various works by a qualified local tourist guide, who can tailor the tour to the specific interests of the guests”
Sonya Perkins Murray, Chief Executive of The Irish Arts Review, added
“The Art Trail will provide guests of The Westbury with a memorable experience of the very best of Irish public art and sculpture in the vicinity of the Westbury. From Countess Markievicz and James Joyce to Phil Lynott and Dermot Morgan, the trail provides a fascinating perspective on Irish art, and the political and cultural personalities and events that inspired the work.”
The Art Trail overnight experience at The Westbury includes a luxury overnight stay in a beautifully appointed bedroom or suite, a bespoke Art Trail booklet and a full Irish breakfast the following morning. The Art Trail overnight experience is available from €690 per room. See more on the website.
