Pantone’s 2019 Colour of the Year can be found at The Coral Room

The Bloomsbury’s Coral Room is in keeping with Pantone’s Colour of The Year

Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2019 has been announced to be 16-1546 Living Coral, a vibrantly energising colour which can be found lining the high walls of The Bloomsbury’s The Coral Room. A fashionable and charming location to sip on some of your favourite drinks whilst marvelling at the exquisitely selected artwork and furnishings. The Coral Room is in fashion this year.

Pantone’s Colour of the Year has been running for 20 years and has influenced many products in numerous industries including design, interiors, fashion and graphics. This year, Living Coral has been carefully selected to take the prize as the ultimate new colour and has been described as warm, animating and nurturing, according to Pantone Color Institute. They say ‘In reaction to the onslaught of digital technology and social media increasingly embedding into daily life, we are seeking authentic and immersive experiences that enable connection and intimacy’ highlighting that this colour encourages seclusion and sincere gatherings. Unsurprisingly, this is what The Coral Room at The Bloomsbury embodies. A glowing hideaway set in the heart of London, the warm ambience with walls swathed in coral, incites an air of ‘living in the moment’, of real connections and of intimate conversations.

The Coral Room

The Coral Room is a glamourous venue, set in The Bloomsbury Hotel, a gorgeous Sir Edwin Lutyens building which brings the classic heritage of the Bloomsbury neighbourhood to its guests. The room’s interiors are designed by Martin Brudnizki, a Swedish interior architect, where modern furnishings meet classic design. The golden hues of the bar perfectly complement the golden undertones of the coral and the potted tropical plants bring an air of the outside-in. This space fully transports you to a world of its own.

Pantone further describes Living Coral as emitting ‘the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerises the eye and mind’. With a floor to ceiling gloss lacquer finish on the coral walls of The Coral Room, the space certainly is mesmerising. Coral not only covers the walls, but blankets the ceiling, creating a fully immersive experience. Antique mirrors and artwork by Luke Edward Hall line the walls, creating a homely and reflective feel – the perfect setting for a few cocktails, as you relax in the assortment of sofas and armchairs. You can also marvel at the five bespoke Murano glass chandeliers which are somewhat reminiscent of coral reefs, transporting you to a vibrant and vivid location.

The Coral Room offers drinks throughout the day and into the evening, when the lights are dimmed and the coral takes on a much darker, ambient feel. Opt for a glass of bubbles, a sweet cocktail or something a little stronger as you sip by the warm crackling fireplace. Or how about ordering a spot of lunch? Choose a colourful superfood salad, a Bloomsbury Club sandwich or the grilled organic salmon with herb butter and lemon. If you are visiting for a sweet treat, order The Coral Room Afternoon Tea, complete with Braeburn mousse, vanilla scones and spiced apple cake. This fashionable setting is not to be missed.
