The Doyle Collection: Officially a Great Place to Work

#PROUDToBePartOfIt

The Doyle Collection was voted one of the Great Places to Work in the world, the only hotel group in its category.

What makes a company great to work for? Is it a supportive, collaborative environment in the workplace? A place where you go to the office and feel motivated every day? A friendly atmosphere, where everyone wants to work hard?

Well, if anyone knows, it’s ‘Great Place to Work’, the world’s largest people excellence programme. This global network of culture consultants, with offices in 48 countries, use an established methodology to publish lists every year honouring great places to work at country, regional and global levels.

And this year, The Doyle Collection was recognised as an official ‘Great Place to Work’. The accolade was presented to the company for the first time at the awards ceremony, held on 22nd February in Dublin. Impressively, The Doyle Collection is the only hotel group to be listed in the Best Large Workplaces category, after entering for the first time this year.

So how are the winners decided? An official assessment and employee survey was carried out across the group, as well as an audit, which focused specifically on the company’s Culture and People practices.

The Doyle Collection has hotels in Dublin, Cork, Bristol, London and Washington DC, with its head office in Ballsbridge in Dublin.

The Great Place to Work Institute assesses the policies and practices in place within organisations under nine key areas: Inspiring, Speaking, Listening, Caring, Developing, Thanking, Hiring, Celebrating, and Sharing. They then benchmark these practices against other organisations in that country.

The second key component of the assessment is an anonymous Trust Index survey that gathers the perceptions of employees under five dimensions: Credibility, Respect, Fairness, Pride, and Camaraderie. Finally, there is an in-depth qualitative analysis of open-ended comments from employees.

Cathal Divilly, Managing Partner of Great Place to Work comments; “The Doyle Collection has shown remarkable commitment to building trusting relationships within their hotels, with a deep understanding that a content and happy team member leads them to deliver a genuine and excellent guest experience.”

Helen Fahy, Head of Quality & Culture at The Doyle Collection comments; “We are so proud to have been listed as a Great Place to Work.  We are very clear about what kind of culture we are creating at The Doyle Collection and our #Proudpeople champion our culture values within their team communities each and every day.  This listing is a credit to their generosity of spirit, sense of belonging and personal touch in every interaction they have with their colleagues”.

Fahy believes that the fact The Doyle Collection is an Irish, family owned brand, built on passion and love is reflected across the hotel team on every level. “There is a true sense of teamwork and it is important that each team member finds meaning and happiness, whatever their role. Cross collaboration within our hotel communities is key and we believe this is paramount in order to continue solidifying our brand message.  It is just as important for us to understand each individual, as it is for them to understand our ethos and brand philosophy.
