The Theatre of Food: The Doyle Collection at Electric Picnic
The Doyle Collection Kitchen
It’s coming to that time of year again – music-lovers are digging out their tents, dusting off their wellies and getting excited for the Electric Picnic. Every September, Ireland’s crowning boutique festival attracts some of the best bands in the world for a long weekend of music, arts, theatre and food.
The food areas at the festival have long been known as greatly superior to its counterparts, with a huge array of cuisines available throughout the arena. Top chefs from Ireland and beyond come to show off their skillsinthrough talks and demonstrations, often with tastings available too.
The hotspot for foodies is known as the Theatre of Food, returning for its sixth year this September 2nd – 4th. The area is home to food demonstrations, culinary workshops, tastings and mixology, all for Picnickers to enjoy.
As well as all the usual favourites, this year there’s a special new collaboration in the mix, as The Doyle Collection will officially be in residence as The Doyle Collection Kitchen. Though all 8 hotels in the Group definitely have their own culinary style, there are a few classics that you’ll find in all of the locations (like the famous brown soda Guinness bread, for example….) Who knows what you might get a taste of at the Picnic?
The Doyle Collection Kitchen will be running throughout the whole festival, with top chefs from the hotels cooking at full hilt to produce delicious treats from the tastings for everyone to have a nibble.
Pat King, CEO of The Doyle Collection, said: “The Doyle Collection is very excited to be taking part in the Theatre of Food at Electric Picnic this year. At all of our hotels we pride ourselves in offering guests new and innovative food offerings in bespoke locations. We look forward to bringing festival goers a taste of The Doyle Collection in the truly unique environment of The Theatre of Food.
There will be some well-known faces at the Theatre of Food, from model and food blogger Roz Purcell to cookbook author Trish Deseine. There will also be some faces familiar to frequenters of the Electric Picnic, like Derry Clarke, Clodagh McKenna and The Happy Pair brothers. While chefs display their techniques for the demonstrations, chefs of The Doyle Collection Kitchen will be working away behind the scenes to make sure there’s enough to go around!
The Electric Picnic is running from 2 – 4 September.
