A collaboration between 80 art and decorative dealers brings the first annual Antiques Anonymous flea market to Marylebone’s Church Street
This weekend a collaboration between 80 art and decorative dealers will bring the first annual Antiques Anonymous flea market to Marylebone’s Church Street
As the antiques and decorative dealers of London continue to dwindle in the face of fresh challenges to the trade, so to do the art, antique and decorative institutions of Marylebone’s famous Church Street. With famous institutions like the Burlington Arcade and Portobello Road evolving in front of our eyes, Church Street is rapidly becoming the capital’s shopping destination of choice for decorative objects old and new.
80 of the dealers situated on Church Street, just a stone’s through from The Marylebone, have banded together for the area’s inaugural annual fea market to highlight their position as some of the last bastions for high-quality decorative objects.
With stalls selling everything from art and antiques to vintage clothing and contemporary design the market will make the perfect place to while away a lazy Sunday afternoon. Stalls from Alfies Antique Market as well as nearby boutiques turn the street in to a one stop shop for all things design, fitting for an area known for playing host to one of the largest collections of high-calibre antique and contemporary design pieces in Europe.
If the flea market of Aladdin’s Cave proportions wasn’t enough to tickle your fancy, street food stalls, live music and exhibitions will also be on the menu. From Munch in Marylebone’s artisan salads and sweets to a one-off special menu at The Sea Shell restaurant on Lisson Grove (one of Lady GaGa’s favourite haunts) there will be something served up to suit everyone’s taste.
