Enjoy your weekend with dinner and a dazzling performance
An evening of thrills watching Cirque du Soleil’s striking new show, Totem at The Royal Albert Hall requires sustenance and fuel with dinner at Town House – the restaurant and bar at The Kensington.
A short stroll north of The Kensington leads you directly to the spectacular Royal Albert Hall, a majestic and historic performance venue located in a Grade-I listed building. From here you will be able to catch world-class performances of enchanting operas, thrilling concerts and elegant ballets. A place not to be missed during a visit to London, there is always something exciting to see. From 12th January to the 26th February, the famous Cirque Du Soleil is bringing a stunning new performance – Totem, a mind-blowing spectacle taking you on a journey into the Evolution of Mankind.
Begin the night with dinner at Town House, The Kensington’s dining haven, aptly named to serve as a home away from home. Indulging in a delicious pre-theatre offering, choosing from a menu curated by Executive Chef Adi Mandokhot, which has a strong focus on seasonal and fresh produce.
To start, choose between tasty Scottish smoked salmon with Guinness brown bread, the ever-changing soup of the day or a Trealy Farm charcuterie board. Once your taste buds have been appropriately satisfied with a delicious starter, you’ll be ravenous for Town House’s main courses, where the seasonal risotto, a roast corn-fed chicken or quintessentially British fish and chips might take your fancy. Don’t forget the decadent and mouth-watering desserts on offer. You can take your pick from the decadent Valrhona dark chocolate fondant, the light and sweet crème brûlée or a delicious selection of ice cream and sorbet.
The pre-theatre menu offers two courses for £20 or three courses for £25 and is available every day of the week from 5pm to 7pm.
Once you’re well and truly fed, you’ll be ready for an evening of thrills, as you sit back and watch Totem, Cirque du Soleil’s new theatrical offering. Cirque du Soleil, translated from French to ‘Sun Circus,’ is a theatrical company who originate from Canada who use an amalgamation of circus styles to each performance. Totem showcases the evolution of man, beginning with amphibians and slowly presenting the transformative changes of the world. Spectacular circus choreography makes up this stunning show; prepare to be entertained by acrobats, unicycles, intricate costumes and striking stage make up. Watch as performers take leaps and jumps into the air and fully transform their bodies into wondrous shapes before performing stunts you can only dream of.

One segment of the show sees multiple sparkling umbrellas spun from each of the performer’s limbs, another involves roller blades and dangerous lifts all performed safely and impressively under the roof of the prestige Royal Albert Hall. An evening not soon to be forgotten.
