How to shop in Washington D.C.
The city's shopping hotspot
Visiting a shopping mall is rarely an inspirational experience. They’re often bland, characterless and, most of the time, pretty identical. But you have to admit, when everything you need is one the one place, life is certainly made easier.
Well, now there’s an alternative. In Washington D.C., you can shop all of the luxurious brands in one location, in the middle of the city and without hopping across town. CityCenterDC is a new enclave of high-end shops, restaurants and greenery in the middle of Downtown. You’ll find all of your favourite stores in one place, lining the streets in amongst the modern glass buildings. There’s a courtyard with plants and seating too, so you can take a break from flexing the credit card and relax with a coffee.
So, what outlets will you find? Here’s our pick of the places you definitely want to pop into…
Rare Sweets
A funky bakery run by Meredith Tomason, here you’ll find amazing treats like Chocolate Banana Caramel cake and Cheddar Drop Biscuits.
Zadig and Voltaire
If you like the sharp, chic, off-duty model look, then you’ll love Zadig and Voltaire.
Caudalie City Center Boutique
Pick up luxurious beauty products or pop in for an express facial.
Momofuko
This is the first US outlet outside of New York – try the infamous cereal milk ice cream.
Kate Spade
If you’re visiting from Europe and looking for gifts, you’ll please anyone at home with a bag from Kate Spade.
The Dupont Circle is the perfect partner for a shopping break in the city. It's a 30 minute walk away from CityCenterDC, or the hotel can arrange for luxury transportation to take you (or pick you up with your bags!) When you get back to the hotel, reward yourself with a cocktail in Bar Dupont, before heading up to a stylish room or suite to review your finds.
