The best activities to entertain the little ones this October
As October welcomes an autumnal season of festivities, there’s definitely no better place to spend it than in the capital. Whether its pop-up markets or an immersive escape rooms – it’s a place that could entertain you for years with its impressive selection.
With spooky season just around the corner and half term creeping up, we’ve selected our favourite list of activities to be enjoyed in the city, ranging from family friendly days to unusual and immersive evening pursuits.
1. London With Family package at The Doyle Collection

2. The Crystal Maze live experience
Get interactive and relive the popular 90s show, The Crystal Maze in live time. The new and exciting experience takes London escape rooms to a whole new level with 32 interactive games waiting to be played by a willing group of adults. Based in the heart of Piccadilly Circus, the live space is home to a number of fun challenges waiting to test you – think riddles and levitating metallic tickets in a dome filled with dramatic lighting and sound.
With all-day opening hours and tickets available to be purchased on the day, it’s perfect for a large group of friends wanting to enjoy some action-packed adventure with some mental puzzles along the way. End the evening with a pit stop as the Maze Bar for a refreshment and some reminiscent laughter after your session.
So, follow the maze masters into a realm of futuristic, aztec and medieval zones filled with quizzes and mental maths ready to test the best quiz masters and team players. It’s also handy to note before booking hat the experience is strictly only available to those aged 13 and over and who are more than 1.2 metres tall.

3. Lady Dinah’s cat emporium
Celebrate London’s feline friends with a dining experience at Lady Dinah’s cat emporium. Designed to perfectly combine afternoon tea with an interactive experience, this place is a haven for those who love cats but can’t commit to having one of their own.
Officially opening its doors in 2014, the Tokyo inspired cat café is London’s first, welcoming its guests to eat, drink and chat amidst a backdrop of 13 cats from various different breeds.
This quirky dining experience is perfect for a family day out within the cosy premises of Dinah’s calming sanctuary.
Following the adopt-don’t-shop mantra, Lady Dinah’s fluffy residents are all rescued from shelters with the aim of rehabilitating them back into human homes. Apart from a few house rules such as not picking any of the cats up and permitting children over 12 only – Dinah’s café is the place to be if you need a bit of feline TLC alongside quality afternoon tea.
4. Spooky fun at ZSL London Zoo
In perfect timing with Halloween, ZSL London Zoo will be welcoming back another year of themed activities to commemorate the gruesome period with its animal lovers.
With the 31st of October nearing, head over to London Zoo as it welcomes its guests to a family day of spooky fun. Running from Saturday 19th October until 27th, all the animals will be in on a frightful-filled night of activities such as creative bat mask making followed by pumpkins and tasty treats expected to be foraged through on the night.
Visitors can creep onto one of their ‘Grim Keeper’ tours where families can sit in on scary talks of zookeeper tales alongside a fair few tricks or treats.
Recommended for families of 8 and above, book a ticket to join in on a night of adrenaline and fun.

5. But half term isn’t just for the little ones…
