Things to do in London this Bank Holiday
Our guide to the best activities to keep anyone entertained in London this long weekend
As spring turns to summer and the sun shines out across the city, Londoner’s and visitors alike are preparing for a scorcher of a bank holiday weekend, here are our top tips for how to stay busy this bank holiday
RHS Chelsea Flower Show
Just a short potter down the road from The Kensington, plant your feet firmly in the direction of the annual RHS Chelsea Flower Show. Aside from being a true treat for all the senses, Chelsea Flower Show is one of the social season’s highlights. Expect enough flowers to keep you going for the rest of the year in the 12,000 square foot ‘Great Pavilion’ – that’s big enough to fit 500 parked London buses.
Bank Holiday Beach Party @ Fulham Beach Club
West London might not be the first destination that springs to mind when you think of a beach club, but this bank holiday that’s exactly what you’ll find. Just a few short stops on the (crucially) air-conditioned District Line and you’ll be transported to Fulham’s very own answer to Ibiza. Expect internationally renowned DJs, pop-up restaurants, two bars and games like ‘putting pong’.
Early Man Family Fun Day @ The Museum of London
Journey back to the Stone Age this Bank Holiday with screenings of the latest film from Aardman (the creators of Wallace and Gromit), Early Man, at The Museum of London. What’s more, kids can learn the art of flint-making using soap, hold real prehistoric artefacts and more before settling down to watch Eddie Redmayne’s character Dug battle to save his tribe in the free screenings of the film.
Missing by Louis Masai at The Crypt Gallery
Art lovers rejoice, this bank holiday sees the launch of South London street-artist Louis Masai’s first solo show, just a short walk from The Marylebone. The show includes an immersive installation of 18 new paintings and even a robotic penguin. Louis explores the concept of humans as animals with his series of anthropomorphised creatures, with his recent work drawing awareness to endangered creatures.
Indoor Rowing Taster Sessions with Lululemon
Get your fitness fix near The Marylebone this bank holiday with Lululemon’s indoor rowing taster sessions ahead of the opening of The Engine Room, London’s new fully integrated rowing boutique and personal training studio. Head on down to Lululemon’s Marylebone store to receive an introduction to indoor rowing and learn the basis of this full body work out which utilises an amazing 85% of the body’s muscles.
