Warm Up with Some of the Best Roasts in London
The Doyle Collection’s top Sunday roasts in London
Perfectly-cooked roast meat, crispy potatoes and gallons of thick, rich gravy can only be found at some of London’s best eateries. As temperatures drop, there’s nothing better than the comfort of a hearty Sunday lunch, with all the trimmings. Whilst mum’s roasts are unbeatable, these pubs and restaurants, in the heart of the city will mean you’ll be heading out more often on Sunday afternoons for a long leisurely lunch. Here’s a list of our favourite spots:
Cora Pearl, Covent Garden
Just south of The Bloomsbury hotel sits this gem of a restaurant, which serves comfort food in a beautiful townhouse located in buzzing Covent Garden. Named after Cora Pearl, the infamous courtesan of the 19th Century, this homely spot is the perfect location for a Sunday roast. A decked-out bar, dark wood and hanging light fixtures make this space warm and welcoming, and the busy atmosphere is electric. We recommend their juicy roast beef with crispy Yorkshire puddings and lashings of dark gravy.

The Royal Oak, Marylebone
A hop, skip and a jump from The Marylebone sits The Royal Oak, where you’ll find an immaculate roast lunch. Offering a traditionally cosy space, this pub was taken over by Dan Doherty, Duck & Waffle’s former executive head chef, who offers only the best British produce. Known for its crisp crackling alongside a delicious pork belly, this menu is unmissable.
Blacklock, Soho
The first of a trio of restaurants, Blacklock’s setting is the basement of an old brothel in Soho. This location is undoubtedly popular, and their Sunday roasts are undeniably delicious. The warmly-lit interiors offer the perfect surroundings for their famous spreads of perfectly cut meat, saucers of vegetables cooked in delicate sauces, jugs of gravy and piles of potatoes. Sourcing only the best British meat from small farms in Cornwall, their ethos of championing quality produce makes for only the best of Sunday dinners.

The Cleveland Arms, Paddington
Take a stroll through Hyde Park from The Kensington and find yourself in Paddington where you can warm up in The Cleveland Arms, a charming pub which has been serving its discerning locals since 1852. If you’re looking for a traditional experience, this eatery is the place for you. Dark wood panelling, a roaring fireplace and lots and lots of roast potatoes.
Hawksmoor, Seven Dials
Using only the best ingredients, Hawksmoor in Seven Dials offers well-sourced beef from grass-fed cattle. This is traditionally cooked, by being seared on a crackling open fire before the meat is warmed in the oven and served alongside seasonal vegetables and all the bone marrow and onion gravy you desire. Stroll south of The Bloomsbury to find this iconic steak house which serves up generous roasts every Sunday.
