Blog (What to do on Mother’s Day in London)
Mother’s deserve to be celebrated, this is why Mother’s Day was created after all! So treat your Ma like a Queen this Mother’s Day with our fabulous ideas...
1. Orchidya Flower Arranging Masterclass
The Orchidya pop-up shop at The Bloomsbury has been such a success that it will be continuing on through the spring and offering a Mother’s Day floristry masterclass on 26th March. Book an hour slot with the experts between 10am and 6pm and enjoy flowers, two glasses of Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque Champagne and canapés for £100 for two.
2. Afternoon Tea
While The Kensington’s Tale as Old as Time afternoon tea is booked up until November, our two other hotels The Marylebone and The Bloomsbury both have wonderful afternoon tea offerings. At The Bloomsbury opt for the the Bloomsbury Set menu, inspired by original recipes from the Twenties and Thirties. Over at The Marylebone’s 108 Pantry settle into a huge armchair and gradually sink into it as you choose between Classic, Indulgent or Gluten-Free tea. And we have teamed up with the jeweller Lola Rose to offer a 10% discount on online purchases for guests dining on Saturday 25th or Sunday 26th March.
3. Spa treatments
Nothing says ‘Thank you Mum’ better than a spoiling spa treatment. Leave your mother in the expert hands of the beauty therapists at ThirdSpace Spa, while she relaxes into a massage, facial, manicure or salt scrub.
4. See a show
All of our London hotels are well placed for a trip to a show, whether it’s the Royal Albert Hall near The Kensington or The West End, which is moments from The Bloomsbury and not far from The Marylebone. Pick something feel-good for your night out,
here’s our pick of the best shows in 2017.
5. Cooking classes
Not that we would ever want to insult your mum's cooking, but if you fancy something foodie this Mother's Day then The Marylebone is just next door to
l’atelier de chefs, one of London’s most revered cookery schools, which hosts sessions on everything from sushi to pastry making. On Saturday 25th it is holding a British Cooking Class.
6. Shopping
A classic mother and daughter (or son) activity and there’s nowhere better to burn a whole in your pockets than Marylebone High Street. Its boutiques are full of London’s most fashionable pieces and to make the day even more of a VIP experience use The Marylebone’s Shopping Guide, which is packed full of discounts and special treats for its guests. Ask at Concierge for the booklet.
7. Arts and culture
Spend your Sunday afternoon strolling around The Wallace Collection, a historic London townhouse just around the corner from The Marylebone exhibiting classical 18th century French paintings, furniture and porcelain and Old Masters in 25 galleries. Follow it will a bite at
The Wallace Collection Restaurant, a beautiful pink-panelled room flanked by towering trees and flooded with natural sunlight.
