Afternoon Tea in The Bristol Hotel

Scones from The Bristol's Afternoon Tea

Popular theory says the tradition of Afternoon Tea was created by Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford in the early 19th Century. Customary for dinner to be served late in the day, Anna created a new meal to satisfy the gap between lunch and dinner and Afternoon Tea was born. After a time, friends were invited to join her for this new meal. Popularity increased and the idea of Afternoon Tea quickly spread, the meal becoming a fashionable event in social circles.

The tradition of Afternoon Tea continues in England to this day and is the perfect indulgent treat. Delicate finger sandwiches, delectable freshly baked scones accompanied by sweet preserves and clotted cream, beautifully made cakes, alongside freshly poured tea all combine to create a wonderfully mouth-watering experience.

Vintage Afternoon Tea is served at The Bristol Hotel, £19 per person, in the relaxing surroundings of the River Lounge. A selection of delicacies awaits you, with a view that calms the soul. Why not join us for this delicious and delightful experience?
