Doyle:             Can you tell us about your new collection? Where does the inspiration come from?

M.O.                 The new collection is full of lots of vintage fabrics and it has a real 70’s vibe which I love. It also has a Lauren Hutton feel about it, I really love her! In terms of inspiration- travel is where I get my ideas. Whether it be from interiors, vintage markets or local culture, I always find something new!

How do you manage to keep your lines fresh and original year after year?

I listen to my customers and I try to improve things from the last year.  Every customer is different in terms of style, cut and colour so for this reason I like to make sure I incorporate something for everyone in my collection.

What’s your favourite piece from the latest collection?

Definitely the Sardinia bikini and the Phuket one piece, both in dusty rose. The colour is chic, feminine and fresh and looks absolutely amazing with a tan. It’s a real fresh direct look for swimwear, plus it looks great with blacks, whites, blues, creams- the list is endless!

Why do you think you’ve managed to stay so popular in such a saturated market?

I really think I’ve built a loyal following, clients come back to me year on year as they know I can provide a flattering cut with fabulous quality, they know what they are getting and I think that’s really important. I only use high-end fabrics and all swimwear is lined with the same material, so there is no skimping on lining- I know this is something customers are looking for. It’s so crucial to stay consistent and especially in such a coat throat industry, you have to stay on top of the game. I do this by providing new design and prints just to keep things fresh and exciting, but also offering those classic designs and fits everyone loves. I was also very fortunate that when I began there wasn’t even an established ‘luxury market’ for swimwear, so in that sense it did help.

What advice would you give to someone shopping for swimwear?

Fit is absolutely everything when it comes to swimwear shopping- never size up even though you think you have to! So many women think the more fabric the better, but actually the less fabric the better as it creates a skinnier illusion. I would also always say put on a little fake tan; it really does make a difference and gives you that little glow you will have on the beach so you can really envisage the look you will have on holiday. Also be aware of the lighting, store lighting isn’t always super flattering (thankfully our stores have the perfect lighting) so just be aware of that as in reality, daylight is rarely that direct. Also, it’s like any type of shopping; choose what suits you not just because it’s trendy! Just stick to what you feel the most comfortable and confident wearing - confidence is key!

Who do you love seeing wear your pieces?

With so many high end swimwear brands around these days I really am so honored when I see the a-list in my designs- it’s such a huge compliment! But I have so say Jennifer Lawrence wearing the Zuma in white in the film Passengers was a real highlight for me. She looked so, so good!

How do you get ready for summer?

Considering the amount of travel I do, I am constantly in the sun so I always need to be summer ready! I make sure I drink plenty of water, keep my diet as healthy as possible, make a smoothie in the morning and always take my vitamins, but I do allow myself a treat now and again- everything in moderation. Then before I go away I always have a quick spray tan to give me that sun kissed glow ready for the beach.

How do you look so great when you’re working so hard and travelling a lot?

When I’m home I love to run outside, we are super lucky here in London that we have such beautiful parks and especially Hyde Park where I often take a morning run before work, it set’s me up for the day and puts me in a great mood. When I’m on holiday, I just try to stay as active as possible, I love rollerblading in Florida; it’s just so much fun and doesn’t feel like exercise which I love! I try to incorporate exercise into my hobbies as much as I can.

How do you deal with the less than sunny English weather, when you’re here?

I really love the sun but I travel so much so it’s not too bad, however I do love the changing seasons London has to offer. I guess I get the best of both worlds!

Do you find time to go on holiday? Where is your next trip to and what will you be wearing?

Florida- I have a house there so it’s a home from home. I can really switch off and enjoy my quality time with the family. The weather is always perfect and it has the most gorgeous beaches with lovely restaurants so it’s an ideal vacation spot. I always pack my ‘Dana’ fringed kaftan; I love the Boho vibe and my ‘Miami’ bikini which is my go to.
