This month, Dalloway Terrace at The Bloomsbury teamed up with one of London’s leading food and luxury travel bloggers; SilverSpoon London. The talented lady behind the blog is Angie Silver, who worked with Dalloway Terrace to host an exciting literary Afternoon Tea event one sunny Saturday in May. In this Doyle Collection guest post, Angie shares her take on the event;

I’ve met so many fantastic friends through blogging and that’s why I was absolutely thrilled when I was asked to collaborate with Dalloway Terrace and invite some of my favourite bloggers for an Afternoon Tea one weekend.

We decided to keep it small and with nine bloggers in total it turned out to be the ideal number. When the day arrived it was clear how perfect Dalloway Terrace is for a blogger event. We were lucky enough to have sun streaming through the retractable roof to light our pictures perfectly and all the beautiful details on the terrace meant we could take the best photographs for our blogs and for Instagram.

We’d themed the event as a ‘Literary Afternoon Tea’ partly to reflect the location of the Dalloway Terrace, and the literary and intellectual past of Bloomsbury. The theme also fit perfectly with my background as an English Literature student and a bookworm! To create the atmosphere of a literary salon, we placed books from the library located in The Bloomsbury around our own private area on the terrace giving the bloggers a chance to flick through the selection.

As the bloggers arrived, Champagne was poured into their glasses and they set about photographing the terrace and all the pretty elements that had been set up. When everyone had finished with the initial photo taking, we all sat down for our Afternoon Tea. And just like the name and décor of the terrace, the tea was inspired by 1920’s and 1930’s recipes that had been modernised by the talented Bloomsbury chefs.

We enjoyed morish chicken brioche, salmon on Guinness bread, the fluffiest of scones, delicate chocolate éclairs and decadent brownies. All accompanied with more Perrier-Jouet Champagne, various different types of tea and coffee. We were enjoying chatting so much that the celebrations continued way past Afternoon Tea time, and into the evening.

To add to the celebrations, a friendly Instagram competition was held throughout the day using the official hashtag, #LoveDalloway. As we snapped away in our gorgeous surroundings we were automatically entered into the competition with the change to win some fabulous prizes which included; dinner, bed and brunch for two at The Bloomsbury and Dalloway Terrace, a Magnum of Champagne, generously donated by Ralph Gilbey at Perrier-Joust Champagne and a very stylish coffee table book about the literary area of Bloomsbury, kindly donated by Eleanor Herring at Ultimate Library.

Before the bloggers left, they were all handed a copy of Mrs Dalloway, the novel by Virginia Woolf which gives the Dalloway Terrace its name. Inside the novel I’d written a personalised note to each of the bloggers attending to thank them for coming and for their friendship throughout the year.

Some of the bloggers present had never met before, others knew each other well, but certainly all left as friends after a beautiful sunny day and a fantastic afternoon tea on Dalloway Terrace.
