Food and drink festivals worth visiting London for
A Taste of London
Last week, London’s The Evening Standard announced a new month-long food festival to celebrate the capital being one of the world’s most exciting culinary destinations. But it isn’t the only foodie festival on our hit list this year. If you’re planning a trip to The Doyle Collection’s London hotels you might want to schedule your holiday around these seriously tasty events.
Cheese and Wine Festival, 1st-2nd April 2017
East London’s East Village is paying homage to cheese and wine with a two-day festival over the first weekend of April. The free event will showcase artisan cheese from over 25 suppliers, along with condiments, chutneys, wine and cider.
London Coffee Festival, 6th -9th April 2017
The London coffee scene has exploded in the last six years, with chains selling burnt brown water being replaced with independent coffee shops where baristas live and breathe the drink. London Coffee Festival celebrates all that is great about coffee, with demonstrations from world-class baristas and interactive workshops, live music, DJs, art exhibitions and coffee-based cocktails, plus Milk & Sugar, the fashion and lifestyle district.
The inaugural festival from The Evening Standard that will run throughout June will be curated by top restaurant critics Tom Parker Bowles, Grace Dent and Fay Maschler. It will include a Night Market in one of London’s top parks, as well as special experiences and community events. The full programme will be released on 2nd May 2017.
Taste of London, 14th -18th June 2017
This is one of foodie Londoners’ top events on their summer social calendar. For four days, Regent’s Park turns into a Willy Wonka land of food stalls. Michelin-star restaurants, street food aficionados, drinks suppliers and hungry Londoners all come together for a serious feast of the senses. Along with stalls, there are workshops, talks and interactive masterclasses.
Great British Beer Festival, 8th -12th August 2017
Britain’s biggest beer festival comes to Olympia in Kensington in August, bringing with it over 900 real ales, ciders, perries and international beers to try. Many of Britain's most recognisable breweries will run their own bars at the event, and there is the chance to sample beers from the likes of Belgium, Germany and Italy. Pub snacks and traditional games will break up the drinking.
Meatopia 1st -3rd September 2017
Originally founded in the US, Meatopia, a festival where you’ll find the most delicious meat cooked over wood and charcoal by some of the world’s leading chefs, has now made its way across the pond to the UK. A weekend-long love affair of meat, drink, fire and music, Meatopia UK sees chefs from around the world (America, Asia, Europe) gather at Tobacco Dock to cook one unique dish each, not to be found on any restaurant menu. If ‘Man VS Food’ is your kind of TV show, then Meatopia is your kind of festival.
