Explore Awe-inspiring Science at Bristol’s We The Curious

Making science accessible to all, discover the world around us at We The Curious

We The Curious’ Concept

Located a short stroll from The Bristol Hotel, We The Curious is right by the Harbourside and is a place you can quite literally spend hours exploring. A place for everyone, the collaborative nature of science is encouraged here, with interactive exhibits and exciting experiences. A bit like an indoor festival, you’ll be wandering around this venue all morning or afternoon, taking part in live experiments and learning interesting scientific concepts.

We The Curious

We The Curious is the size of an aircraft hangar and includes over 250 exhibits spread over 2 floors. The ground floor holds the biggest exhibits including human body displays, a hands-on kitchen and green house and an open city lab. Whilst the first floor is replete with sensory experiences – bringing experiments revolving around both light and sound. Complete tricky puzzles and be awe-inspired by shapes and illusions.

There are also some interesting workshops and talks throughout the day which you can pop into and learn even more about the wonders of science:

From 5thNovember to 2ndFebruary, head into The Box where ‘Hertz’, a two-piece artwork by artist Juliet Robson can be found. Created in collaboration with astrophysics, meteorology and mathematic academics, you can take a seat and experience the sensation of infrasound vibrate through your body or even discover our connection to the universe through the infrasound of stars. Or, how about heading to We The Curious’ Futuristic Farm? Their greenhouse is transformed into an indoor urban farm using premium hydroponic technology to see how we might grow our plants of the future. This exhibition runs from 15thDecember through to the 5thApril, so you have plenty of time to catch it.

Planetarium

The Planetarium

We The Curious holds the UK’s only 3D planetarium. The planetarium alone is reason enough to visit – a chance to experience what the universe offers. From expert presenters, sit back and watch as stars, the planets and the wider universe is explored right in front of your eyes. Learn about constellations and black holes, all at 1.6 billion pixels per second. Enjoy 30-45 minutes of astrological information from this spherical planetarium. Or, how about joining one of their Planetarium Nights for those over 16? You can experience an evening in outer space with a drink in hand from the bar…what a way to enjoy an evening in Bristol.
