New Spring Menu at The Croke Park Bistro
Delicious dishes for sunny days
One of the best things about the change in the seasons is the arrival of seasonal food. Certain ingredients just perfectly sum up a season – like rich, comforting root vegetables in autumn, and sun-ripened berries in the summer.
Now spring has finally sprung, The Sideline Bistro has launched a new menu, filled with fresh, light and delicious dishes. We recently brought you the recipe for the wheat free chocolate cake, but wanted to share a bit more about the new dishes on offer.
If you fancy… a salad
When the weather gets a little warmer, suddenly salads seem their most appealing. Try the starter of Roast Beetroot, Goat Cheese & Walnut Salad for an interesting new combination, packed with different textures and flavours. If you want something a bit heartier, then the Baby Lettuce, Microgreens, Grilled Organic Salmon comes in two different portion sizes, with a fresh basil dressing.
If you fancy… something light
Don’t quite feel like a full meal? There are some great options for nibbles, perfect to share over a chilled glass of rosé. The Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese, made from a silky combination of mozzarella and cream. When you cut into the cheese, the soft filling oozes out. At The Sideline Bistro, it’s served with juicy cherry vine tomatoes, olive oil and country loaf, so you can smother the fresh bread in this delicious cheese. The charcuterie plate is another great option for sharing.
If you fancy… something meat-free
Whether you’re a vegetarian or not, the Roast Butternut Squash Risotto is a perfectly creamy dish, served with crispy sage and Parmesan. Who needs meat when this hearty bowl is packed with flavour and depth?
If you fancy… something hearty
Just because it’s spring, doesn’t mean you don’t always crave a nourishing, substantial meal. There are plenty of items off the grill on the menu, including a Whole Poussin, roasted with lemon, thyme and garlic. All of the items from the grill include a side – try the creamy gratin potatoes, classic skinny fries or go light with rocket and parmesan.
Remember, when the sun is shining you can also enjoy your food out on the terrace, with its plush, sofa style cushions. If you want to keep things healthy, you can opt for a fresh juice from The Juicery, all of which are as delicious as they are nutritious. Or treat yourself with a cold glass of wine or beer – after all, when the sun makes an appearance it’s reason enough to celebrate!
