Cork Film Festival and The River Lee
The launch of Doc Day
It’s the oldestfilm festival in Ireland, and this year it’s going to be bigger and better than ever before. The Cork Film Festival is now in its 61st year, and is taking place on Friday 11th November to Sunday 20th November. The River Lee has long been a partner of the festival, and this year will again present the Audience Award as well as remaining a Principal Acomodation partner.
In addition, The River Lee will also host two days of exciting industry activity, including the launch of the first ever ‘Doc Day’ on Friday 18th November.
‘Doc Day’ is an all-day conference designed to support and foster Irish filmmaking talent. The day will see expert speakers from all over the world attend and give workshops, talks and panel discussions. Held in support with the Irish Film Board, ‘Doc Day’ serves as a platform for young filmmakers, giving them the opportunity to learn from industry leaders and meet likeminded people from around the world.
As well as hosting ‘Doc Day’, The River Lee and Cork itself will be home to plenty of activity around the festival. Over the course of the event, more than 100 screenings of feature and short films will be held, as well as schools programming and live performances happening all over the city. With a location in the heart of the city, The River Lee will be in the middle of the action.
