Evita from Shakespeare Theatre Company: September 5 — October 15

Under the direction of Sammi Cannold (Forbes Magazine's 30 Under 30 in Hollywood & Entertainment), a groundbreaking revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s Tony Award-winning rock opera, Evita, takes the stage in DC. In a production that The Boston Globe hails as “Exceptional,” the story of Eva Perón’s meteoric journey to becoming Argentina’s First Lady is brought to life with heart and spectacle.

Something Moving: A Meditation on Maynard at Ford’s Theatre: September 22 —October 15

This world premiere production is part of the ongoing Ford’s Theatre Legacy Commissions program. Playwright Pearl Cleage explores the historic election of Maynard Jackson, Atlanta’s first Black mayor. Set in the present day, the story travels back 50 years as citizens of the city reflect upon the significance of the pivotal election that turned Atlanta into a progressive example of the New South. Join us in commemorating the 50th anniversary of Jackson’s election, with Cleage’s compelling storytelling expertly brought to life by director Seema Sueko.

Mrs. Doubtfire at National Theatre: October 10 — October 15

Everyone’s favorite nanny is headed to Washington, DC! Rob McClure will reprise his Tony-nominated Broadway performance in this internationally acclaimed hit musical critics call “a feel-good, family-friendly comedy that delivers” (The Hollywood Reporter). Based on the beloved film and directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, Mrs. Doubtfire tells the hysterical and heartfelt story of an out-of-work actor who will do anything for his kids.
